Macfun intesify12/7/2023 ![]() For me, seeing the original photo next to the composit has been very interesting because I can see the effects of your post and how little post you actually do to get the great look you get. I guess I just got, carried away! :DĬliff, I have been looking at your finished composit and the sooc image for the last 30 minutes, or so. Hope you don't mind me adding a little extra info. It's interesting to see how Joel's lens selection and lighting setups have changed over time. I also recommend his videos, they are expensive but worth the price. I know Cliff you recommend Joel's workshop. This allows you to get really close with the octo and not have to shoot past it as in your example. By using a 24mm lens you can actually sit the top of the octobox on top of the lens(Joel does this with the 24-70 and corrects in post). It also keeps images sharper at the edges. Shooting wide with a 24mm tilt shift for portraits allows you to correct the lens distortion. It just goes to show you if you know what, you are doing you don't have to follow the rules. I know we all recommend using the 70-200 for these shots. ![]() He splices the upper half and the lower half of the bodies together. ![]() He also has a variation of full body lit the same way using a 24 tilt shift. He used to do these with the 24-105 kit lens for canon. ![]() Very educational.( I do shoot several modified versions of this setup on occasion.)ĭid you know that Joel shoots many of these types of images with a 24-70 closer to the 24? Even the gray background shot looks good.Ī great example that should be viewed and appreciated. One of the things I really like about all your images is how the subjects seem to always be engaged with you and the lens. ![]()
